Honor sends Renown to free Cueur, with the help of Pleasure ( Plaisir ) and Pastime ( Deduit ), sworn enemies of Wrath and Sadness. Enlarged view ~ Showing intricate detail of tents and rigging
On his way to Honor's tent, Desire is glad to have found help so soon but sad that Amour has so many enemies, and that the Lady Sweet Grace is being held captive. At Honor's tent he has dismounted, removed his hat, and is down on one knee ( his horse, too, is bowing its head in homage ). Honor is emerging from his tent, the barons, with whom he has just held council, behind him. They are Renown ( Renom ) and Valor ( Vaillance ). Desire greets the general respectfully, then reports that one of Amour's most faithful servants has been treacherously captured by the infamous Sorrow, as he was seeking Sweet Grace. He begs Honor to rescue Cueur.
Again, the scene is bright with color, beginning with the low green shrubs in the foreground set off by the lighter green of the bunched grasses. The tents, seen closer-to, with broad borders ornamented in red, green, and gold, finials and fluttering pennants glittering against a strip of blue sky, are resplendant with color, climaxing at the center in Honor's princely patterned red gown trimmed with fur. Honor wears two heron feathers pinned to his hat by a rich jewel. Here, in Amour's tenting ground, there are no shadows; all is light and joyous color.
